What to do / Where to go in Setagaya with Toddlers & Kids?
Setagaya Tokyo is family-friendly!
Setagaya in Tokyo is convenient, that you can easily access to Shibuya and Shinjuku, even to Tokyo station. However, there are many parks that you can play with your toddlers and kids.
Many Parks and Fun Things in Setagaya
I’ve been Setagaya area for long time! I’ve been to many places and enjoyed a lot since I was a child. Now I am a mom and I enjoy exploring Setagaya with my kid (born in 2024). I made a list of what to do and where to go with your toddlers and kids in Setagaya, Tokyo.
Sangenjaya with Toddlers & Kids
Setagaya Park – せたがやこうえん
Setagaya Park is located 20 minutes away from Ikejiri Ohashi station or Sangenjaya station on the Denentoshi Line.
There are,
- Setagaya Playpark – a place where kids “play with your own responsibility”
- Playground
- Kotsu Hiroba where kids can learn traffic rules with traffic signs, mini cart course with mini cart, etc.
- fountain
- Skate Board Park called SLPARK
- SL (exhibited)
Also, many events are held at Setagaya Park throughout year.
Get in a Train on the Setagaya Line
Setagaya Line is a local small train running between Sangenjaya and Shimotakaido. It’s Only 2-car train, running on the road that is rare, recently.
There is a cute train car, that is cat wrapping, the handle is shaped as cat, etc.

There is an observation deck at Carrot tower in Sangenjaya. It’s FREE to go!
Komazawa Area with Kids – Setagaya, Tokyo
Komazawa Olympic Park
Needless to say, there is Komazawa Olympic Park! There is a baseball ground, skateboard park, tennis court, and more! There are also small play areas for toddlers and kids.
- Buta Koen = Pig Park
- Risu Koen = Squirrel Park
They often have fun events too! Also, in Spring, you can enjoy the cherry blossom there.

Sakura Shinmachi with Kids – Setagaya Guide
Hasegawa Machiko Museum – Sazae san Museum
The author of Sazae san, Machiko Hasegawa had spent her later time in Sakura Shinmachi. There are the statue of Sazae san in front of Sakura Shinmachi station, Sazae street that connect Sakura Shinmachi station to the Museum, that is Hasegawa Machiko Museum.
It might be fun if your kids like Sazae san.

Yoga with Kids – Setagaya Guide
Play at Play area and Horse Riding at Baji Koen – JRA
Baji koen is a facility that ran by JRA (Japan Racing Association). There is a children playground =こどもひろば.
They also have some events for kids, too!
Kinuta Park – きぬたこうえん
Kinuta Park is a huge park, that is located 15 minutes away from Yoga station, Denentoshi Line. There is a playground, a baseball ground, a small soccer field, Setagaya Museum, and In Spring, you can see beautiful plums and cherry blossom.
I often go for a picnic there, bringing some food / beverage that I buy around Yoga station.
Okura Athletic Park – おおくらうんどうこうえん
Okura Undo Koen Park is next to Kinuta Park, further from Yoga station.
There is, play area for toddlers / kids, SL (exhibited), adventure playground, small fountain, roller skate ground, outdoor pool in summer, etc. Also, Kinuta Asobi no Yashiro Playpark where kids “play with your own responsibility”

Futako Tamagawa with Kids : Family Friendly Area
Movie at 109 Cinemas Futao Tamagawa
There is a movie theater called 109 (Tokyu) cinemas in Futako tamagawa. You can buy I usually book movie tickets online.
Kineko International Film Festival
Thy have a Kineko International Film Festival in Futako Tamagawa in Fall. They have films for kids too.

Forest Garden at Tamagawa Takashimaya : Free
There is Forest Garden at Tamagawa Takashimaya Department Store, where kids can play! It’s nice to have your kids play there before/after shopping. My son likes to walk around!
It’s outside, so not a good idea on rainy days.

Shopping & Events at Tokyu Futako Tamagawa Rise
Futako Tamagawa Rise is a shopping mall where you can enjoy shopping and occasional events! I love the christmas tree and lights on holiday season!
Futako Tamagawa Park – Riverside
Futakotamagawa Park is easy to access from Futakotamagawa station without worrying any car coming. There is a playground, Japanese garden, and Starbucks.

Setagaya Station with Kids
Boro Ichi Flea Market
Boro Ichi Flea Market had started in 1578. It’s held on only 4 days in a year, December 15th, 16th. January 15th and 16th.
You can enjoy finding something including antiques, retro things, interesting goods, etc., and eating/buying food at venders, especially Daikan Mochi that is sold only here!

Gotokuji Area with Kids
Beckoning Cats at Gotokuji Temple
There is a temple named Gotokuji temple where you will find so many Beckoning Cats! It’s fun to go and see how many kinds of cats there! You can also enjoy finding hidden cats on the pagoda!
Umegaoka with Kids – Setagaya Guide
Hanegi Park
Hanegi Park is located 15 minutes away from Umegaoka station. There are a play ground, tennis court, baseball field, maze play area, tea house, library, etc.
Also, they have a Plum Festival in Spring, that you can enjoy many kinds of plum trees and there are some food venders during that.
Setagaya Daida with Kids – Setagaya Guide
Shirohige Cream Puff Shop for Ghibli Fan!
Do you know this cute Totoro shaped cream puff from Shirohige Cream Puff shop? They also have Totoro shaped cookies, cute cakes, etc. They have regular flavor filling, and also seasonal flavors!
You can eat-in and also to-go. I often buy these for my friends who have kid(s)!
Setagaya has a lot of family-friendly and kids-friendly places! And there are many fun things to do with toddlers and kids. I keep finding more and update this little by little.
