Shibuya Best Food Guide
Here are my recommendations for you where I took my friends from abroad to, and they loved it – Japanese style pub/restaurant, cheap Sushi place (belt Conveyor style), Okonomiyaki, and Ramen restaurant. And those are not difficult place for people who dont speak Japanese.
I choose them by taste, not “photogenic”, so please do not expect instagrammable looking food.
Japanese Cuisine Restaurant in Shibuya
Here are some Japanese Food that you can enjoy in Shibuya. I personally like to try local food on trip. and I’d recommend some Japanese restaurant to you.
Gyukatsu Motomura – Beef Cutlet
For beef cutlet, I’d recommend this place! You might find a long line, however, it’s worth it!
They will serve you a beef cutlet as medium rare with a hot stone to grill more if you’d like. You can put some salt or sauce on a cutlet. I also like graded yam on a rice.

Donabe Gohan Ikushika – Japanese
If you haven’t tried white rice that cooked in a clay pot, this place is for you! I choose “Kakuni” that is pork belly that is simmered with soy sauce, sugar, sake, etc.
They bring a clay pot to your table, so you can have it all.

Kaikaya by the Sea – Izakaya & Seafood
Kaikaya by the Sea is a Seafood Izakaya!
It costs a little bit and also you might need to wait to get seated, but definitely highly recommended!
I recommend Fatty meat of Tuna, Sengyo (fresh fish) Carpaccio. In addition, Shimofuri Kobe-gyu Nigiri Zushi (Kobe beef on rice as sushi style) is SO tasty!
Okonomiyaki Mura Shibuya – Cabbage Savory Pancake

Have you heard Okonomiyaki before? It is a Japanese cabbage pancake with special source.
I often go to Okonomiyaki Mura in Shibuya. I like Okonomiyaki with pork, or seafood.
You will have a Teppan (iron plate) in the center of table, and be able to eat a hot one. They have English menu at Okonomiyaki Mura.
Best Sushi Restaurant in Shibuya
Sushi no Midori Shibuya
Sushi no Midori is a very famous and popular Sushi restaurant in Shibuya. There is always a waiting line though, you can check-in with a machine in front of the shop. And wait for your turn somewhere else if you come back before your number is called by checking the situation online.
Genki Sushi – Belt Conveyor Sushi
Genki Sushi is a belt conveyor sushi place. There is a line usually, but it comes around to your turn very quick. All counter seated, so it might not be comfortable to go with big group.
It is super easy for you to order/eat sushi, since they have a touch panel in front of each seat. You can change the language into English, Korean, Chinese(簡体字), and Chinese(繁体字).
You can have Nigiri sushi, rolls, side such as salad, french fries, and dessert too.

Best Ramen Restaurant in Shibuya
If you are looking for a ramen place, or want to eat quick, I would recommend you to try Ramen if you like.
Ichiran – Tonkotsu Ramen
Ichiran is one of famous ramen shops in Japan, and my French friends, German friend, American friend, Taiwanese friends loved it!
Dotonbori Kamukura – Shibuya
Kamukura was found by the former French chef, Masato Fuse. It’s difficult to find something similar to explain.. very unique. Only few people know the recipe for their soup.
If you like to eat something lighter and mild, I recommend this place.
Tsujita Shibuya Fukuras – Tsukemen Noodle
Tsujita is a Tsukemen noodle restaurant that has multiple locations, even overseas too. I’ve been the one in LA before. They have a vending machine to buy a ticket.

La Cabina – Tacos
For Tacos, La Cabina is my favorite in Shibuya so far. This place is not big though, you will have great tacos!
They also have craft beers.
Las Bocas – Spanish Restaurant
Las Bocas is a Spanish restaurant in Shibuya, that you walk 10-15 minutes from Shibuya station.
Alegria Shibuya – Churrasco Restaurant
Alegria is a Churrasco restaurant that is located nearby Shin Minami exit of Shibuya station of JR. I had all-you-can-eat, and it was great. They brought many kinds of meats and veggies (+ pineapple) to your table. The staffs were nice too.
Cafe Legato – Great View of Shibuya
A place with a great view! The closest station is Shinsen Station, though, you can walk from Shibuya too.
Twelve on the park bar & grill – Squence Miyashita Park Shibuya
Twelve on the Park Bar & Grill is at hotel called Squence Miyashita Park, Shibuya. It’s nice atmosphere with less noise.
The Best Cafe in Shibuya
For your coffee break, you might want to find a cafe. Here are some for a cup of coffee and matcha.
The Matcha Cafe Tokyo Miyashita Park
For Matcha in Shibuya, I’d go to The Matcha Cafe Tokyo. it’s a great idea to get a cup of Matcha, and chill at the Miyashita Park.
Streamer Coffee Company SHIBUYA
This is a small cafe, which is located in 10-15 minutes away from Shibuya station. I like to go there when I walk between Shibuya and Harajuku/Meiji Jingu.
The Best Sweet Shop in Shibuya
Flipper’s Shibuya – Fluffy Pancake
Flipper’s is a fluffy pancake place! It takes time for them to cook, because they start cooking after getting an order. I like some fruits on the pancake.
I’m Donut? – Famous Donut Shop
I’m Donut? is a popular donut shop where I often find a long line. They have multiple locations, and they have limited flavors at each shop, too.
