JA Yokosuka Hayama Farmers Market “Sukanagossso”
“Sukanagossso” is a large farmers market filled with locally grown vegetables. When I visited on the weekend, people were lining up even before it opened.
Veggies & Meat
The freshly picked produce was shining brightly! You’ll find unique vegetables you rarely see in supermarkets, like Miura daikon radishes, watermelons, Shonan Gold citrus, and Kamakura vegetables.
There are also baked goods, deli items, and a butcher selling meats including Hayama beef croquettes, which were absolutely delicious😊 You can also find soft-serve ice cream made with milk from a nearby dairy farm🍦
Fish
There’s also a small seafood corner offering fresh fish, dried seafood, seaweed, and ready-to-eat dishes like octopus rice and seafood rice bowls.

Tateishi Park: One of Kanagawa’s Top 50 Scenic Spots
Tateishi in Akiya is listed among the “Top 50 Scenic Spots in Kanagawa” and has even been depicted in ukiyo-e woodblock prints. The view at sunset is especially stunning.
There’s a public parking lot (Tateishi Park Parking), but the entrance is narrow, making it difficult for large vehicles.

With restaurants, cafes, shops, and even Misaki Donuts🍩, there’s plenty to eat and enjoy.

Sarushima Island : An Uninhabited Island Straight Out of a Movie
Sarushima Island was once used as a military fortress. Just a 10-minute ferry ride from Mikasa Park.
Today, it remains full of untouched nature, with brick tunnels and mysterious ruins that give off serious Laputa (Castle in the Sky) vibes!
You can also enjoy BBQ in summer🍖

Yokosuka Onsen Yura-no-Sato : Outdoor Bath with Ocean Views
A popular hot spring facility with open-air baths overlooking Tokyo Bay.
I visited just before sunset—the daytime sea view and the glowing evening sky were both amazing😊 Meals are available onsite.

Kanou Shrines (East & West) : Spiritual Power Spot
Located on either side of Uraga Bay, the East and West Kanou Shrines can be reached via the Uraga Ferry.
Interestingly, the guardian lion-dogs at West Kanou Shrine both have open mouths, while those at East Kanou Shrine both have closed mouths. It’s said that together, they form a matching pair⛩
This spot is also known for its spiritual energy✨ There’s a tradition where placing a magatama (sacred bead) from West Kanou Shrine into an amulet pouch from East Kanou Shrine is said to bring good luck in relationships🤗
