It was not known much in Japan, but recently some people do the party here too. I’ve never been to any gender reveal party in Japan because none of my friends did it.

Now, I am an expecting mother (due date, April 2024), and my American husband and I decided to have a gender reveal party for our baby in Tokyo with my family.

Where To Buy Gender Reveal Party Goods in Japan

I would say that online is the best place to buy items for gender reveal party in Japan. I did a lot of research but I couldn’t find many stores in Tokyo.

Choose Theme / Color

It’s easy to shop if you already decide the theme or/and color. We didn’t feel like doing blue/pink which was typical, because we didn’t want to represent “blue = boy” and “pink = girl”.

We wanted to do it with neutral color, so we decided our theme color,  off-white + beige + gold. These below are what I actually bought for our gender reveal party, with an affiliate link.

Napkin – Hello Baby, Beige + Gray

Gender Reveal Cake Ideas in Japan

There are many options for a cake, order-made, pre-made, handmade, etc. I couldn’t find many stores making gender reveal cakes.. I decided to make one by myself.

I got a bahmkuchen from Jiichiro. It’s easier to put some fruits inside to reveal the gender because it’s 8cm high, comparing to make a hole on sponge cake by yourself.

My plan was, to put 2 kinds of fruits on top, and 1 in the hole.

I choose 2 kinds of fruits ; blueberries for boy, strawberries for girl. You need to get more of either fruits to put inside.

Donut Tower with Mister Donuts

I bought some donuts at Mister Donuts.

Pon de Ring is perfect to use. You can buy some kinds of Pon de Ring Balls. I’d recommend getting

• Small Chocolate Pon de Ring
• Small Strawberry Pon de Ring

for inside. And,

• Plane Pon de Ring for the tower
• Small Plane Pon de Ring for the top of the hole (to hide what’s inside)
