Introducing my recommendation for sightseeing spots in Old Town, Phuket. There are a clock tower, museum, cute buildings. etc which you can enjoy a streetscape of Phuket Town. It is pretty and nostalgic, especially Chino-Portuguese style. Also there is sunday night market that you can see locals, too.
Exploring Phuket Town
Phuket Town is called “Old Town” where is a center of the area for locals. Also there are many good places for taking pictures with buildings in Chino-Portuguese style 🙂
A Quite Small Place
It is a quite small town taking only 15-20 mins to walk around from edge to edge. So it might be enough with 2-3 hours for sightseeing.
What To Do and See in Phuket Town?
Promthep Clock Tower
This building was built in 1914, and there was no clock at the time.
It became a police station and building was white, and now it’s yellow building and Phuket Baba Museum.
Chino-Portuguese Style
Chino-Portuguese style is mixed with Chinese and Portuguese culture. You can find a lot of buildings in Chino-Portuguese style painted very colorful which is pretty✨ Many of buildings looks a bit old, but beautiful because of painting.
I’d recommend you to walk on the Thanon Talang Street for that 💕
Phuket Thai Hua Museum
Phuket Thai Hua Museum used to be an elementary school, and they remodeled into a museum.
I couldn’t go inside because of not enough time though, you can check it out if interested in. 😉
Boba Time
We were getting tired from hotness and walking, and found a boba shop which is popular place that we didn’t have any idea though. A lot of pictures of public figures (they said) are hanged on the wall.
I got a milk tea boba, and it was tasty and charged me well! 😊
Hai Leng Ong Statue (Golden Dragon Monument)
Found a golden shining dragon! 🐲
Surin Circle Clock Tower
It might be one of landmark of phuket town, there are pictures of loyal family of Thailand.
Sunday Market in Phuket Town
On Sundays, there is Sunday Night Market on Talang St. A lot of shops like clothing, bags, foods, beverages are lining up, events are held, and both locals and travelers gather. How about visiting if available? 💗
*Noted: Watch your belongings carefully
How to Get Patong from Phuket Town
We took a cab on street, and it took about 40 mins and costed $20(US).
It is NOT close from Patong area, but I’m glad that I went there since I could enjoy the town looking different from one in beach area, and enjoyed Chino-Portuguese style buildings, saw a lot of local people, etc.
