There are some Spanish restaurants in Cebu, Philippines due to its history. I went to have dinner at “Hola Espana” which looked very popular in Mactan island, Cebu, Philippines. I would share my experience.
Popular restaurant : Hola Espana
i had been very excited to go to this place before i arrived there.
Found this Spanish restaurant in every book i read.
in addition, i love Spanish food especially paella 😍🥘
Must-have Reservation
Strongly recommend you to have a reservation in advance.
There is a few restaurant around hotel area, so it can be crowded.
Location and access to hola espana in mactan
the location is in front of Shangrila mactan hotel & spa where I stayed.
if you stay another place, you’d better to use cab because it is dark and I wouldn’t say it’s safe at evening.
Drinks and food review
Drinks
They have a variety of alcohols, however I prefer smoothie for my tiredness due to have been under the sun for daytime.
It took some minutes to be served though, it charged me vitamins 🙂
Salad
it’s very simple salad – onion, tomato, black olive and lettuce seasoned salt&pepper, olive oil. Very freshy but nothing special, honestly.
Carbonara
You may imagine “creamy and salty” as you hear carbonara.
Surprisingly, this was sweet. It might be coconut, i guess. Honestly it was a bit strange for me but it matches: coconut for salty food 🥥
Paella
Tasted good!
Too much for 2 girls, but pretty good for couple or family.
And also it took very long time ( of course I know how to cook it and takes time, however it was longer than I thought).
so recommend you to order it in advance.
This paella was the best dish than any of them that i had.
Price – hola espana in Cebu
