Shi Lin Night Market is one of BIGGEST night market in Taipei. There are many people mixed up with locals and tourists. I would introduce how to enjoy, food, and tips. And what you should do on rainy day so that you can still have fun 😉

Time
3:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
There were so many shops lining up when I visited there around 10 p.m.
How to Access – Which station?
It says “Shi Lin Night Market” station, but I would recommend you to use Jiantan Station（R15） and exit 1 ☺️
You can easily find it from the platform 💛
*Tip : Go to bathroom if you need to😊
Bathroom
There is bathroom, but I would recommend you to go to bathroom at station, or even before getting there like your hotel, department store, or somewhere like that.
Food at Shi Lin Night Market
It is one of biggest night markets in Taipei, so there are many food vendors and souvenirs
Here are what I had at Shi Lin Night Market🤔
Sweet potato Ball ＠地瓜球
It’s fried balls made by sweet potatoes, and cheese is in it 🍠🧀
You can enjoy the contrast of sweetness of sweet potatoes and saltness of cheese.
Be careful it might be too hot.
Oyster Omelet ＠阿婆之家
It’s a restaurant in basement.
This omelet is fluffy, many oysters in it, sweet-chili sauce , and it comes with soup which I forgot to take a picture.. it costs NT$60.
I personally didn’t like sweet chili sauce, and soup though, this is one of popular food at night market.
Fried Chicken ＠士林豪大大雞排
It’s known for “Bigger than your face”🍖
There were around 10 people before me, but it only took 5 mins to get😇
They give you a small bag when you are in line, and they put chicken in it. Just make sure that you hold its handle and please be careful since it is too hot.
Also you can ask them if you want spicy fried chicken or not🌶🌶 I’m not a big fan of spicy food, so I asked them “non-spicy”.
It’s better to prepare NT$70 to pay before you get a chicken.
Taiwanese style Hot dog
This is one of popular Taiwanese-style hotdog. They put a Taiwanese sausage, fresh cut cucumbers and sweet sauce in a bread made by glutinous rice🌭
You can enjoy the various of texture, like soft and roughness of bread, cucumber is crispy, and sauce is smooth.
I thought the taste of bread is a little bit strong, and sauce is sweet.

Tropical Fruits
You can also find a lot of kinds of tropical fruits 🍓🍋🍇🥝🍍
I don’t know about you, but i got excited to see star fruit and dragon fruit because those are rare for me 💕
Souvenirs at Shi Lin Night Market
There are not only food venders, but also variety shops. Smartphone accessories, accessories, souvenirs… you can find a lot of things there. It is fun to explore and find something souvenirs for your family or friends.
How to Enjoy on Rainy day
It was rainy day when I visited there, and I was very nervous if I can enjoy enough of experiencing the night market.
Wear Raincoat or Bring Small Umbrella
I brought my umbrella and wore my rain coat. The rain coat was enough for me since it was not heavy raining.
It was comfortable and convenient for hands-free with rain coat😊
Underneath the Roof
There are areas with roof, where you should go on rainy day.
I went to “Underground food court Shilin Market” on basement where many restaurants, also lockers and toilet were there. I took off my rain coat and folded it inside out, put it in a plastic bag.
What to Bring
Wipes or Hand Sanitizer
For your convenience, I would recommend you to bring some wipes or hand sanitizers 😊
Plastic Bag
You can put some of your trashes, keep your food, and so on.

Reusable Bag
It is eco-friendly to bring your reusable bag if you have any plan to get some souvenirs ⭐️
Handkerchief
Sometimes you cannot find napkins, so it was useful to bring a handkerchief.
