I was trying to find good sushi in Utah. It is not common to eat raw fish especially in Utah since more than 50% of people says they are Mormon which means they don’t eat raw fish. Although, I found some of sushi places. And I finally tried “Simply Sushi” in Salt Lake City.
Simply Sushi
My husband took me to sushi place named “simply sushi” in Salt Lake City on Valentine’s day.
I saw some reviews written by Japanese people on google map so I thought it would be nice to try!
All you can eat SUSHI
You can choose “All You Can Eat” if you’d like. I checked through the menu and thought it would be nice to try a lot of kinds of sushi with All-you-can-eat. Otherwise it could be expensive.
Beverage
I asked them if they have a green tea, and they brought me a mag filled with hot water and a teabag. It was not “greentea” which I would imagine, mixed with lemon grass.
Nigiri
I had,
- Tuna
- Salmon
- Shrimp
- Bonito
- Yellowtail
- Octopus
In my honest opinion, salmon was good, Tuna, Octopus, and Shrimp are ok, and i didn’t like Bonito and Yellowtail.
Roll
Due to my curiosity, I tried a roll. Tuna and imitation crab were inside, and Masago was stuck around roll.
It was ok but a bit weird for me because you will never find this kind of rolls in Japan.
Side Menu
They asked us if we’d like to have salad, miso soup, and edamame.
For salad, my husband ordered crab, I choose seaweed, and they also have cucumber salad too. About Crab salad, they marinated imitation crab with sliced cucumber, sliced onion, and mayonnaise. And there are seaweed and white sesame on my seaweed salad which was salty.
We both also got miso soup, which came with small dice of tofu. Again it was a little bit salty as usual as you order in USA.
I liked edamame with additional salt put by myself 😉
Price
All You Can Eat for lunch time is about $16, which is fair enough. And it would be more expensive if you order one by one.
Review
As a Japanese, I personally think they put too much vinegar on rice, and rice itself is also not Japanese rice that we usually eat in Japan.
I would say it is good place for someone who love “Americanized” sushi. If you have ever been to Japan and tried “Japanese” sushi, you could feel not satisfied, I would guess.
