Christmas Lights & Decorations in Tokyo
In Japan , people enjoy Christmas both religiously and secularly. You will find Christmas trees, lights, decorations in buildings, malls, hotels, etc.
I enjoy stopping by and seeing those beautiful lights, usually a bit earlier. I wouldn’t recommend going to popular spots on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, since it will be packed.

Ao no Dokutsu (blue cave) in Shibuya
Shibuya Koen Dori Street to Yoyogi Keyaki Zaka Street is going to be decorated with 600k blue lights, that they call “Ao no Dokutsu” (Blue Cave). You can walk through these beautiful lights!

Omotesando Fendi Illumination – Omotesando
Omotesando – one of the famous high-end shopping streets – is also beautiful during the holiday season in Tokyo. You can either walk to Omotesando from Harajuku/Meiji Jingu, or walk down to Harajuku/Meiji Jingu from Omotesando. I recommend going up on the bridge and having a view from there.

Midtown Winter Lights – Roppongi
Christmas Story Lights are very beautiful in Tokyo Midtown Roppongi, which is connected to the subway station. There is also a Christmas tree named “Party Topper Tree’. Inside of the building is also decorated.

Roppongi Hills Christmas – Roppongi
The very famous building called Roppongi Hills also does some lights during the holiday season. There are trees with lights on the each side of the street, and you can see beautiful Tokyo tower in the middle.

Marunouchi Illumination 2022
In the Marunouchi area, there are 340 trees with 1.2m of lights. It would be nice if you walk through these lights to Tokyo station after you go to the Imperial Palace.

Michi Terrace in front of Tokyo Station is also beautiful.
White KITTE in Tokyo
There will be a Christmas tree with white decoration in JP building called “KITTE”. It’s directly connected to Tokyo station underground, and the tree will be inside the building. It’s great that you can enjoy even on a rainy day, or if you are not fond of cold weather. There are shops and restaurants in the building.

Baccarat Eternal Lights – Ebisu
This might be my most favorite lights during the holiday season in Tokyo! They put a gigantic chandelier in Ebisu Garden Square. It’s sparkling..!! Also people get attracted by the beautiful Christmas tree there.

Tokyo Dome City Winter Illumination
There is a dome, attractions (rides), shops, restaurants, and etc in Tokyo Dome City. Closest station is Suidobashi. It’s free to walk around and enjoy the lights there (additional fee to enjoy the rides).

Jewellmination in Yomiuri land
Yomiuri land is a theme park in Tokyo, where you can enjoy some rides, pool (only in summer), and jewellmination which means Jewel x illumination in winter. The theme in 2022 is “Light is Happiness”.
It’s not free, however, if you want to see the nice lighting in Tokyo, I’d recommend going to this.
