Osaka is the biggest city in west side of Japan. Although, I would say you should go other places outside of Osaka if you can!
There are easy ways to go to another city from Osaka such as train and bus. I have been Kyoto, Nara, Kobe (Hyogo), and etc. so many times since I used to live in Osaka, and it was just quick trip for me to get these places.
Kyoto
Kyoto is must place you should visit if you have never been to.
It is an old capital of Japan, and there are many historical/traditional things in Kyoto.
I would recommed you to go there for more than 1 day since there are a lot of things to check/visit, but you can also go as day trip from Osaka.
Nara
As you might have seen someone’s pictures taken there in Nara, there are Deer Park in Nara where you can feed deers.
It is a bit scary for me to feed wild animals, but they are mostly very easy.
Kobe (Hyogo Prefecture)
Kobe is known for Kobe beef, but there is more of stuff to enjoy!
It doesn’t take much time to walk around Sannomiya Area to see shrines, the oldest mosque in Japan, western-style houses for non-Japanese people who lived there build a decades ago when Kobe opened its port to other countries.
