Miura Kaigan Sakura Matsuri Festival
When is The Sakura Festival in Miura Kaigan?
February to March, but it’s different each year due to how much the Sakura blooms depending on weather. Details on Official Website – Miurakaigan Sakura Matsuri [English] .
Where to See Cherry blossoms?
Miura peninsula is pretty big, but the Sakura festival is held in a small area. This list navigates you where to go to enjoy cherry blossoms.
In Front Of Miura Kaigan Station
As soon as you get out the gate at Miura Kaigan station on the Keikyu Line, you will find beautiful sakura trees. Also, they have “Tento Mura” = “Tent Village” in front of Miura Kaigan station.
There are many kinds of venders, food, coffees, sea food products, etc. you can check it out!
Cherry Blossom & Canola Flower Avenue
Between Miura Kaigan station and Misakiguchi station, there is a cherry blossom & canola flower avenue on the side of train-rail. It takes 15 minutes walking from Miura Kaigan Station or Misakiguchi station. I recommend going from Miura Kaigan station though.
You can enjoy the combination of Sakura and canola flower while walking. Once in while, the train runs. The scenery that the train runs aside of Sakura x Canola flower is so beautiful that never get me bored.
Komatsugaike Park
Entering to the Komatsugaike Park from the street between Miura Kaigan Station and Misakiguchi station, it’s a little bit slippery
Things To Do in Miura Kaigan
Miura Kaigan Beach
You can get to the beach by walking for 10 minutes from Miura Kaigan Station. It’s beautiful. There were some people surfing, paddling, etc when I went there. But it’s just so quiet and chilling!
Restaurant : Kaiwaya
Kaiwaya is a restaurant that is located on the beach front where you can eat seafood. They have Misaki Maguro (tuna) which is a speciality of Miura peninsula. Also, Golden horse mackerel that is a local speciality from Miura.
I ordered a deep fried Golden horse mackerel with rice and miso soup. The fish is not that big though, it’s very soft and tasteful!
Recommend going early lunch (as soon as it opens) or later lunch because I saw a long line when I was leaving.
Bayside Share Cafe
For coffee break, I went to Bayside Share Cafe that is literally in front of beach. I had a cup of coffee with a nice ocean view! They have some outside seats too.
There is a working space that you can use if paid for that.
