Sanrio is a company of cute characters which are Hello kitty, My Melody, Kiki and Lala, etc. And there is a theme park where you can meet and greet with Sanrio characters in Tokyo! Introducing you how to get access, information for tickets, rides, amusement, attractions, food, etc!
What is Sanrio Puroland?
この投稿をInstagramで見る
Puroland is located in a bit away from center of Tokyo, but still accessible. It is one of popular theme parks for family with toddlers in Japan, so it gets crowded in holidays.
I actually have been there for some times when I was a little. Also, I went there again to see how it looks like for me as an adult, and i simply a fan of Hello Kitty!

How to Access
The closest station is Tama Center station.
It takes 30 mins from Shinjuku station, 60 mins from Tokyo station.
And you can walk to this theme park from station by foot. On the way to get there, you can enjoy some boards and sculptures of Sanrio characters 🙂
Attractions and Amusement
There are NO scary rides there, since I could try any of them! lol
Sanrio Character Boat Ride
You get on this ride and have a water tour for 10 mins through Sanrio character’s world.
My Melody & Kuromi Mymeroad Drive
It is also a ride and not scary at all, but not a water tour. A concept is driving around town where my melody and her friends live in. There are also photospots, and you can get it if you want on Web photo service. (*extra fee)
Lady Kitty House
It is a house of Hello Kitty, there are a lipsticks, mirrors, bed, as “Lady Kitty” lives. Mostly, you can just walk and look around, and take pictures. Nothing special but feeling like you are at home of Hello Kitty.
Kiki & Lala Twinklingtour
This is similar to “Lady Kitty House”, you can enjoy the world of Kiki & Lala. There are a lot of spots that you might want to take pics!
Shows and Parades
There are shows and parades there, you can join with your hand clap, dancing, singing, etc. everything is in Japanese though.
You can check them scheduled online in advance. I don’t think you need to get a space and wait for long time as you might do at Disney Land or Disney Sea.
Food
この投稿をInstagramで見る
Not only you can enjoy rides or decorations, but also they have cute food! They have curry rice, ramen, hamburger + fries, beverage, ice cream, desserts like cake and cupcake, and etc.
I was not hungry, so I got myself a piece of chocolate cake! 🍰
It is a bit pricy of course it is a theme park, but just noted that you can enjoy cute food there. Also they have seasonal menu which you should check it out 😉
How long to get around?
It is a quite small comparing to Tokyo Disney Land, Tokyo Disney Sea, Universal Studio Japan (in Osaka), and etc. You need only a half day, or even 3 hours if you don’t have kids and on weekdays.
It might be crowded on “holidays” like weekend, summer/winter vacation, national holiday, in that case you probably need extra hours to get on rides, get a seat for eating, have a meet and greet, etc.
For me, it took 15 mins for being on line for meet and greet with Hello Kitty, and 5-10 mins to get on rides, before noon on weekdays.
Is It Worth to Go?
I would recommend you to go if you are a big fan of any of Sanrio character, or your kids love them. You can meet and greet with characters, and all those decorations are cute!
Also you don’t need to worry about weather here which is nice.
If only you want to buy some character goods, I’d say you don’t need to go here for that since you can buy a lot of sanrio character goods everywhere in Japan.
