Nagoya Jo Castle – Iconic Building
Nagoya jo Castle is one of the popular spots for sightseeing in Nagoya. It was built by Imagawa Ujichika between 1521 – 1528. In spring, you can see beautiful cherry blossoms in Nagoya Castle.
This castle is famous for its gorgeousness which has 2 statues of golden fish on the top of castle.
I would highly recommend you to go inside! There is a ton of thing to see and have fun!!! Check it out 😉
Atsuta Jingu Shrine
Atsuta Jingu Shrine is very famous, that was found in 113, it has been more than 1900 years!Once you get inside of the site, it is very peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful place, and i spent 1-2 hours here. You can find lucky charms which called Omamori, and Goshuin, Omikuji, etc..
Also they do weddings (Shinto way of wedding ceremony) there too, so you might run into Japanese style wedding if you are lucky!
Osu Shopping Street – Shops & Foods
Osu Shouten gai is a shopping street, that has over 400 years of history.
There are restaurants, clothing shops, and food/juice stands, and so on!! I walked around and bought some things and had some foods like Karaage (Japanese style fried chicken), boba tea, Taiyaki, and etc.
There is a huge beckoning cat called Manekineko in Japanese on Osu shopping street. I saw a lot of people both looking like tourists and locals were sitting down and enjoying their time here.
Also, there is a roof that covers most part of the (big) street. So you don’t need to worry about rainy/snowy day.
Osu Kannon Temple
Osu (pronunciation: Ohsu) Kannon Temple – the Shingon Sect of Buddhism – was found in 1190, but in different place. In 1612, it was transferred to Osu.
There is also Osu bunko where Kojiki is kept. Kojiki is the oldest Japanese book and a national treasure.
LEGOLAND® Japan Resort in Nagoya
LEGO LAND® JAPAN RESORT was opened in 2017 in Nagoya. There are attractions, shops, restaurants, and etc. It’s very popular destination for a family trip, especially those who have kids that love LEGO®!
They say that there are 170 millions of LEGO® blocks, and 10k of LEGO® models. 8 different themed area, more than 40 attractions and shows, and more! LEGO® Ninjago World has opened in 2019.
I’d recommend checking the height of your kids before going, because there are height restrictions on some attractions.
“Morning” Culture Experience
The culture called “Morning” is very unique service. If you order a drink (mostly, coffee) in the morning (certain time), you can get a toast (+ something). The details are different at each restaurant, but I think it’s good deal 👏🏼
There are many places that provide “Morning” service in Nagoya.
Komeda Coffee is one of famous places for “morning” service.
